Privacy Policy

Plain English, because you should be able to tell what happens to your details without a law degree.

This policy covers District Built and the website at districtbuilt.com.au. It explains what we collect, why, who else can see it, and how to get it removed.

What we collect

Only what you hand us. There is no account to create and nothing hidden.

When you use the enquiry form on this site, we collect your name, phone number, email address, suburb, the type of work you're after, and whatever you write in the message.

When you respond to one of our ads on Facebook or Instagram, Meta passes us the details you chose to submit on that form — typically your name, phone number, email address and, if the form asks for it, your WhatsApp number.

When you simply browse the site, our advertising tools may record that a visit happened and roughly where from, using cookies. That is covered further down.

Why we collect it

• To reply to your enquiry, quote your job and arrange a time to look at it.
• To keep in touch about work already under way.
• To understand which of our ads bring in real enquiries, so we stop paying for the ones that don't.

We don't send marketing emails or newsletters, and we don't add you to a list.

Who else sees it

We don't sell your information, and we don't share it with anyone who wants to sell you something. A small number of services handle it on our behalf:

• Netlify — hosts this website and stores the enquiry form submissions.
• Meta (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp) — where our ads run, and where lead-form details are collected before they reach us.
• Lumoworks — the web designer who built and maintains this site, and who manages our advertising. They can see enquiries in order to keep the site and ads working.
• Our email and phone providers — because that's how we reply to you.

We'll also hand over information if the law requires it. That's the only other case.

Cookies and tracking

This site uses the Meta pixel, a small piece of code that tells us when someone who saw one of our ads later visited the site or sent an enquiry. It uses cookies to do that, and it can be used to show you our ads again on Facebook or Instagram.

You can turn most of this off yourself: block or clear cookies in your browser, and adjust what Meta is allowed to use in your Facebook or Instagram ad settings. Blocking cookies won't stop the enquiry form working.

How long we keep it

Enquiries are kept while we might reasonably still be talking, and job records are kept for as long as we need them for warranty, insurance and tax purposes. If you'd rather we didn't hold onto yours, ask and we'll delete it.

Keeping it safe

Enquiries come in over an encrypted connection and sit in accounts protected by passwords and two-factor authentication. No system is perfect, and we won't pretend otherwise — but your details aren't sitting in a spreadsheet on a public drive.

Getting a copy, or getting it deleted

You can ask us at any time what we hold about you, ask us to fix something that's wrong, or ask us to delete it. Email or ring and we'll sort it out. There's no charge and no form to fill in.

If you're not happy

Come to us first — most things are a misunderstanding and get fixed in a phone call. If we can't sort it out, you can take a privacy complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

If what we do changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top updates. We won't quietly start doing something this page says we don't.
